What are Spiritual Gifts?
^"7The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others. ⁸Some of us can speak with wisdom, while others can speak with knowledge, but these gifts come from the same Spirit. ⁹To others the Spirit has given great faith or the power to heal the sick ¹⁰or the power to work mighty miracles. Some of us are prophets, and some of us recognize when God's Spirit is present. Others can speak different kinds of languages, and still others can tell what these languages mean. ¹¹But it is the Spirit who does all this and decides which gifts to give to each of us." 1Corinthians 12:7-11  (See also Romans 12, and Ephesians 4)

What is the Purpose of a Spiritual Gift?
"¹³For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. ¹⁴How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? ¹⁵And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" Romans 10:13-15 

There are numerous lists of spiritual gifts, and various commentators include more or fewer gifts in their list of spiritual gifts, but the gifts that have been targeted in the "Spiritual Gifts Inventory" that many of you filled out recently are listed below. For further information about the meaning, interpretation, possible applications that can be made, and for biblical examples of each of the gifts, click on the name of each gift. This will link you to more information about that gift. The links have been removed. An alternative will be determined in a few days. In the meantime, please inquire further of one of the members of the nominating committee.

Things to remember:
     -  rarely does the Spirit give a single gift in isolation of other gifts. Each person typically has a cluster of gifts, with varying strengths of each gift within those clusters.
     - any "test" / inventory of spiritual gifts is subject to error. Let God be the final judge of the gifts He has given you. Allow yourself to hear His Spirit speaking to your own spirit, and convicting you of how He wants to use your special combination of gifts, talents, personality, background, and experience.
