Miracle On Easter
.

I read a story that happened in Tanzania, Africa during Easter.  The 800 Ibuga Christians met outdoors to sing and worship.  When they started their service, a huge lioness came from forest and attacked the village.  Normally a lion will only kill to eat.  But this lioness was deranged and in a killing frenzy.  She killed three goats, a cow, and then a woman and child!  As cries and shouts of alarm arose in the village, the lioness ran off in the direction where the Christians were meeting.  When the congregation finally saw the creature, she was only a few yards away!  She roared at the people furiously, but did not charge them.  The preacher shouted to the terrified worshippers, "Folks, do not be afraid!  The God who saved Daniel from the lions den is here!  The risen Christ of Easter is here!"  He then pointed to the lioness and said, "You lion!  In the name of the risen Christ, I rebuke you!"  Out of the clear sky above, a bolt of lightning shot down and instantly struck the predator dead.  As a result, many villagers committed their lives to Christ that day.  The community was very moved by the display of God's power.  Even local policemen, carrying away the carcass, admitted how "the God of these people is a God of miracles."

21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions;
   save me from the horns of the wild oxen.
22 I will declare your name to my people;
   in the assembly I will praise you.
23 You who fear the LORD, praise him!
   All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!
   Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!
24 For he has not despised or scorned
   the suffering of the afflicted one;
   he has not hidden his face from him
   but has listened to his cry for help.

Psalm 22 is a song of prayer describing the sacrificial death of the Messiah.  During that Friday of crucifixion, it appeared the roaring lion of the enemy had won!  But through the agony and death of His Son, God was performing the greatest miracle!  It was the miracle of our redemption!  This coming Easter weekend, let us remember the miracle of the gift of eternal life our Savior made possible for us!
